Responsibilities:

  1. Assess, diagnose and evaluate patient health problems.
  2. Develop and implement patient care plans to improve outcomes and ensure a safe and therapeutic environment.
  3. Administer medications within scope of practice and according to state law.
  4. Educate patients and families about post-discharge care programs.
  5. Collaborate with healthcare team members to revise care plans as patient's condition warrants.
  6. Provide guidance and direction to healthcare team members to ensure quality patient care.
  7. Participate in total quality management to improve care.
  8. Orient and educate new staff in nursing techniques and departmental procedures.

As a Registered Nurse - Patient Care, you will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and evaluating patient health problems, developing and implementing care plans to improve outcomes, and ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment. You will administer medications within the scope of practice and according to state law, educate patients and families about post-discharge care programs, and collaborate with healthcare team members to revise care plans as necessary.

Qualifications:

  1. Current RQI Healthcare Provider e-Credential through the University of Utah Health RQI system within 30 days of hire.
  2. Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Utah, or obtain one within 90 days of hire under the interstate compact if switching residency to State of Utah.
  3. Demonstrated leadership, human relations, and effective communication skills.
  4. Ability to function calmly and competently in high stress situations.
  5. Ability to display mental and emotional stamina in situations dealing with death, multiple patients, family members, etc.
  6. Ability to deal with the hazards involved in assessing and providing care to patients.
  7. Knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.

To qualify for this role, you must have a current RQI Healthcare Provider e-Credential through the University of Utah Health RQI system within 30 days of hire, a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Utah, or obtain one within 90 days of hire under the interstate compact if switching residency to the State of Utah.


Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within one year of hire.


Working Conditions:

Intensive work that may exert up to 100 pounds and may consistently require lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling or otherwise moving objects, such as medical equipment, or patients while providing medical care

May be exposed to infectious diseases and may be required to function around prisoners and behavioural health patients
