As a Library Assistant, you will provide support in delivering library services to our patrons. You will be responsible for routine tasks such as shelving and retrieving books, processing new books, and supporting circulation services. You will be expected to maintain high levels of accuracy in your work and to be familiar with using online library catalogues. Although library experience is desirable, it is not essential.

Responsibilities:

  1. Retrieve and shelve books, and ensure proper order and organization of library materials.
  2. Assist with circulation services including issuing library materials, checking materials in/out, and processing fines.
  3. Assist in cataloging and processing new materials.
  4. Provide basic reference and research assistance to patrons.
  5. Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the library space.
  6. Work collaboratively with other library staff to provide excellent library services.
  7. Be familiar with and adhere to library policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work unsupervised following clear instructions.
